David Hernandez attended the press conference for the “6th Annual Ginoong Pilipinas USA” Pageant this past Monday, June 30, 2008 in which he will also be the headline entertainer for the event. The Ginoong Pilipinas USA Pageant is a pageant that showcases the talents and charisma of male contestants with Filipino extraction. The winner will be crowned at the pageant fundraiser that will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at The Bing Theatre, University of Southern California. Twenty contestants from across the United States will compete for the title “Ginoong Pilipinas USA” which translates to Mister Philippines USA. This year's winner will receive $1,000 cash, roundtrip tickets to the Philippines and the opportunity to represent the Filipino community at various civic and cultural events.
During the press conference, the majority of the contestants’ main reason for joining this pageant was their passion for representing the Filipino Culture and the Asian Culture in general. Their hope also includes breaking the stereotypes that exists for Asians in the United States.
As a special treat for what will be in store, Mr. Hernandez sang his rendition of “Get Here” that was originally popularized by Oleta Adams. Along with Hernandez performing at the main event, actress Sharon Leal of “Dreamgirls” fame will also be in attendance. Joining the two talents will include former “American Idol” contestants Jordan Segundo and Vanessa Bryan.
For all you ladies out who will be in Los Angeles, come join the fun as these guys strut their stuff in their evening wear and swim wear. By attending the event, you'll also be supporting the White Ribbon Campaign, a coalition of Men Working to End Violence Against Women with portions of the proceeds to be donated to the campaign.
