You know she’s controversial…AND talented. So when Maya Arulpragasam aka M.I.A did a cover story for New York Times Magazine this week, she was none too pleased with the outcome!
M.I.A. got very upset about how she was portrayed-and in retaliation, tweeted the phone number of the reporter who wrote the piece, the Huffington Post reports.
M.I.A. tweeted, “917.834.3158 CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day bitches ;)” After positioning the phone number as hers, the reporter, Lynn Hirschberg, has been inundated with phone calls.
Hirschberg’s article, ‘M.I.A.’s Agitprop Pop,’ alleges the singer’s affiliation with political groups that employ terrorist tactics. It also discusses the singer’s views about her native Sri Lanka and contradictions in the way she lives her life vs. what she preaches.
Ouch! Read for yourself here.
We’ve been wanting to feature the Sri Lankan rapper. We’ll tell the truth, M.I.A!
