Despite his total earnings falling by 10 percent to $90.5 million, troubled golfer Tiger Woods is still the highest earning athlete in the world, according to two top 50 earning athletes lists released today. On Sports Illustrated’s SI.com, Woods was first on the Top 50 athletes of the US in
2010.
His total has dropped 40 percent from 2008 where he earned $127.9 million.
Woods also topped Forbes magazine’s 2010 list of the top 50 earning athletes in the world for consecutive ninth year, earning at $105 million, down 4.5 percent from last year.
The golfer lost lucrative sponsorship deals with Pepsi, Gilette, Accenture Plc and AT&T over his extra-marital affairs.
However, he still maintained sponsorship deals with Nike and Electronic Arts, as well as golf earnings of $20.5 million.
Boxer Floyd Mayweather earned $65 million, banking heavily from the fight against Shane Mosley, on the Forbes list.
Love it! Mayweather is on the Forbes list, yet refuses to fight Pacquiao. Completely knows that he will lose!
