South Korea’s Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-Na has moved her training base from Toronto to California after splitting with her Canadian coach, Kim’s agency said Monday.
AT Sports said in a statement that Kim would move to the East West Ice Palace at Artesia on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where US figure skating superstar Michelle Kwan also trained.
“She decided to go to LA as many of her future skating activities are concentrated in the United States,” the statement said.
Kim, referred to as “Queen Yu-Na” in Korea, is the only South Korean figure skater to win an Olympic medal.
A new coach has not been decided.
