A mushy handwritten draft of Hong Kong singer-actor Sammi Cheng’s statement that she has gotten back together with old flame singer-actor Andy Hui has been uncovered by Hong Kong media. Unlike the version she posted on her micro-blog last week, Cheng affectionately called Hui, 43, “Brother An” in her draft which spanned four pages.
The draft, which was written on hotel stationery, also contained phrases like “it is good to find a shoulder I can cry on, to act coquettish with. I really cherish it” as well as “Having the space to protect Brother An is the biggest blessing in this relationship”. Cheng’s draft was apparently retrieved from her garbage by the paparazzi who have shadowed her while she was shooting her new film in China.
The 38-year-old Cantopop diva was not amused. “This draft expresses my inner world. This is all private,” a visibly annoyed Cheng told reporters who swarmed around her at the airport when she returned to Hong Kong on Monday. While Cheng was upset with the media outlets who published the draft, she said she would not sue them. She added that she should have been more careful when disposing of the draft. Would she stop writing altogether after this embarrassing incident? “No, I like writing down my feelings,” said Cheng. She then reiterated her previous plea for space to develop her relationship with him before departing from the airport.
