Skin-care line La Mer has teamed up with the international ocean advocacy organization Oceana to celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8. The brand behind the cult Crème face moisturizer (made from sustainably harvested sea kelp) has created a limited-edition jar of the stuff and will donate $200,000 to Oceana.
It has also partnered with Soundwalk, a musical collective known for its innovative audio city tours, on a free iPhone/iPad application. The Seven Seas Sound Mix features intro videos and audio interviews with seven environmentally-minded personalities on location speaking about different bodies of water.
British adventurer David de Rothschild describes his love for the California coastline aboard his recycled bottle-constructed catamaran, the Plastiki; Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi waxes poetic while swimming in the Spanish Med in Ibiza; and designer Philippe Starck narrates from the waters of L’lle aux Oiseaux in France. Seven Seas Sound Mix available on iTunes, free; limited-edition 100ml World Oceans Day Crème de La Mer, $365, cremedelamer.com
