After eight grueling weeks of challenges and eliminations, 22-year-old Vimala Ganavelu was crowned Miss Vasantham 2011 at the show’s grand final on Sunday.
Organized by MediaCorp’s Vasantham channel, the pageant recognizes Tamil-speaking women of Indian origin who are articulate and encompass poise and elegance.
The pageant is back for the third time after a five-year hiatus.
Vimala is a biomedical science student from Ngee Ann Poly and hopes to do research with the government research agency A*STAR.
President S R Nathan was the pageant’s guest-of-honor.
