Singer Faye Wong has been crowned Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Woman for 2011 after a fierce battle on www.PETAAsiaPacific.com. Having been crowned literally every highest award for Chinese female singers, Wong is publicly referred to as the “diva of Asia”. Returning to the stage at the end of last year, every concert on her Asia tour has been very well attended. In the first Chinese Spiritual Billionaires Award announced at Peking University in April 2011, Wong was also listed among the top 10 Spiritual Billionaires.
Bollywood hottie Shahid Kapoor won the title of Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Man.
Other popular contenders include Taiwanese actor Blue Lan, Super Girl Jane Zhang, actors Gao Yuanyuan and Barbie Hsu, songwriter Louis Cheung, Indian film heavyweights Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi, model-turned-Hollywood hottie Maggie Q and Mongolian singer Nominjin.
Favorite celebs from outside the continent include actors Natalie Portman, Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia; fighting champion Jake Shields and singers Anthony Kiedis (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Leona Lewis.
“I have always supported the cause of being a vegetarian, and it’s nice to be felicitated for something so close to my heart”, says Kapoor.”Being voted as sexy is a matter of perception, but being vegetarian is a lifestyle change and something that comes from a sense of responsibility.”
“There’s no easier way to put passion into your life than to put compassion into your diet”, says PETA Asia Vice President of International Campaigns Jason Baker. “Going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth and your health. Plus, there’s no easier way to stay slim and sexy – and Faye Wong and Shahid Kapoor are living proof.”
