I LOVE lipstick, I really do. Lipstick was my first experience with cosmetics. As a little girl, I would watch my beautiful mother apply her lipstick before going out and was spellbound by the glamorous transformation that a little tube of color was able to bring about. At the age of five, I vividly remember sneaking into her makeup bag, swiping a shade of fiery red, and locking myself in the bathroom to give myself a makeover. Needless to say, I was caught red-lipped and red-handed, lol.
It’s many years later and I still haven’t ended my love affair with lipstick. I possess an array of colors, including green, blue, and black! But if we boil it down to the essentials, I have always strongly encouraged every girl to have at least one nude shade and a fabulous red. And now I’m about to add a third “essential” shade to the mix…Girl About Town, by MAC.
Girl About Town is one of MAC’s amplified creme lipstick shades, described as “bright blue fuchsia”. Sounds daring, no? But as vibrant as it is, Girl About Town is an incredibly wearable pop of color that is amazingly flattering on EVERY skin tone, whether you have porcelain skin or a deep bronze complexion. I feel as comfortable wearing it to class as I am wearing it at the club.
The formula itself is lovely. Girl About Town glides on smooth, creamy, and highly pigmented. The color is as true on your lips as it is on the tube. It’s also lightly scented with the faint fragrance of vanilla cream soda. (in my opinion) I also get long-lasting, non drying wear for hours on end without having to reapply. (I just smooth some balm over it at the very end of the day if I’m beginning to feel chapped, but the color stays strong)
Conclusion: I highly recommend Girl About Town to every girl out there looking for something a little more adventurous than neutrals and a fun alternative to red!
