Justin Bieber has made a lot of boxing fans angry with the Instagram photos he personally edited to make fun of Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao.
The famous popstar, who is a proud fan of Pacquiao’s rival, Floyd Mayweather, took the Filipino boxer’s defeat in a humorous way. After being knocked out, Bieber edited a photo of Pacquiao and inserted the cartoon image of Simba (Lion King) looking over the boxer who is lying face down on the ring.
But Bieber didn’t stop there. He posted another photo where he edited Pacquiao’s leaning body to go alongside Michael Jackson’s “The Lean” dance move, with a caption “Pacquiao doing the lean with MJ .. ClassicMoment.”
Bieber then followed with comments favoring Mayweather after Pacquiao’s loss to Marquez He has nothing to gain fighting Pacquiao, Floyd has never in his professional career lost a fight and Pacquiao lost his last two fights,” tweeted the Canadian superstar.
Naturally, Filipinos are enraged about Bieber’s insensitivity, especially that Pacquiao is close to be considered a “national hero” for constantly making the country proud with his decorated career in boxing. Loyal fans are retaliating by posting “Manny vs. Bieber memes” and saying foul cries via Twitter. In fact, even government officials are not so pleased with Bieber’s actions as one lawmaker is determined to ban the singer from visiting the country.
Yacap party-list Representative, Carol Jane Lopez, is stern in making this scenario possible. Aside from publicly declaring Bieber as “persona non grata,” she is also urging the Filipino youth to completely abandon Bieber’s music.
Others are reacting similarly, though some think that banning Bieber in the country might be a “little over the top.” Some say Bieber should not meddle with this kind of issue because he is clearly clueless about what goes on between professional boxing and the suffering an athlete must endure after being knocked out in the ring.
Pacquiao has shown grace and courage despite defeat, holding his head high despite negative comments from someone like Justin Bieber. The famous boxer quickly “shrugged off” comments and is determined to do better next time.
So what do you think, is it just for Bieber to be banned in the Philippines or is his immaturity forgivable?
