Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and Korean star Song Hye Kyo will star in Hong Kong director John Woo’s upcoming film “Love and Let Love”, reported Hong Kong media.
The production team is also reportedly in discussions with Taiwan actor Chang Chen and Hong Kong’s Andy Lau to appear in the film.
Set in 1930s Shanghai, “Love and Let Love” weaves together four love stories to create a romance epic played out over the course of the Chinese Civil War.
Song will play a banker’s daughter who sheds her wilful ways and becomes a kind, mature woman in “Love and Let Love”.
Details of Zhang’s role in the film have not yet been released.
“Love and Let Love” is Woo’s first directorial effort since the two-part period piece “Red Cliff” some four years ago.
Announced in 2008, “Love and Let Love” was delayed for some time due to casting problems and other production issues.
Woo was also laid up for months, after developing a tonsil tumour last year.
The 66-year-old director will begin shooting “Love and Let Love” in Taiwan and Shanghai in April.
