As we say goodbye to summer, Fashion Week welcomes back all New Yorkers and fashion insiders to a week of excitement and style that New York is so well known for. With boundless fashion shows and parties, one of the highlights for editors and celebrities are the many gifting lounges, perfect to recharge in between shows and appointments. Kicking off the bevy of lounges is one of my favorites, GBK & Pilot Pen’s Celebrity Gift Lounge, presented by Hard Candy Cosmetics & Michael Todd True Organics held at the bustling Empire Hotel. Well known for their incredible list of talent that attend, as well as their array of accessories, beauty, lifestyle and fashion brands that showcase the latest and greatest in their collections, GBK’s Celebrity Gift Lounge was a huge success, seeing such stars pass through including the cast of Orange is the New Black to Perez Hilton, to Jonathan Cheban.
As guests arrived they were greeted in style with drinks from Partita Tequila and Svedka Vodka, while the eclectic sounds of DJ Max Power kept everyone in high spirits. The space was beautifully decorated and adorned with wonderful floral designs from Floral Heights Flowers and Events and Bloom Nation. Upon entering the main suite area, Pilot Pen immediately grabbed guests’ attention with their bold display and creative use of pens used to design their version of a little black dress. They offered a gift bag filled with practical goodies, featuring a FriXion Clicker, an erasable pen that is uniquely designed to write smooth and erase clean, a must have for every professional out there. Pilot’s stylish MR Animal Collection pays tribute to the wild side using exotic prints and graphics adding some personality and allure to writing utensils.
For editors and celebrities looking to freshen up their look after a hectic day of running around, Hard Candy offered makeovers, touch ups, hair styling and mini manicures. They also presented their full collection and gifted an assortment of makeup from beautiful eye shadow palettes, to body illuminators and other amazing products. Their edgy and colorful line is available exclusively at Walmart. Other highlights of the lounge included gifts from Michael Todd True Organics, an innovative company and leader in the rapidly growing organic skin care market. Guests took home a SONICLEAR – the Worlds First Antimicrobial Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush and Sonic Eraser, the first ever serum infuser with a 3-in-1 sonic, ionic and heat based delivery system to maximize the benefits of hydrating skin products.
Other beauty brands exhibiting at this luxury lounge include Brow Art 23, a fully licensed eyebrow threading boutique that awarded gift certificates and brow essentials like brow gel and eye shadow palette. In the category of skin care, EMK Beverly Hills, an anti-aging line with exclusive plant placenta formulations gifted full size products ranging from serums to moisturizers. Fashion accessories and jewelry are always a highlight of GBK lounges where glam creations and amazing craftsmanship satisfy the many styles of the trend-setting guests. This year I was introduced to the impressive designer Cynthia Gale who showcased her art-inspired sterling silver jewelry. Her collection is truly a personal expression of individual art with each piece reflecting a heritage culture or a spiritual journey message. LUMINITA meanwhile displayed a beautiful variety of Glass Beads Woven Bracelets and Glass Beads Woven Tassel necklaces, statement pieces in themselves. For those looking for a unique and special look, monogram necklaces from Jane Basch Jewelry offer just this. Guests were also presented with gift certificates and SnapBacks from Robdechi, a lovely collection of trendy jewelry, spa and bath products, fine art photography, and other handcrafted gifts from The Artisan Group. For the show lover, Princess London Shoes gifted a pair of edgy and sophisticated shoes.
And if after the long week of appearances and work leave everyone exhausted, guests received a super impressive offer to aid in their recovery. Palace Resorts in association with Caribbean Living gifted a four day/three night stay for two at the brands signature property, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, a reason in itself to look forward to a vacation.
Keeping true to GBK’s fundamental belief of giving back, this year’s lounge benefited Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, a charity that funds the nation’s best and brightest scientific investigators with eighty-nine cents of every dollar raised directly funding doctors whose goal is to improve the efficacy of cancer treatments, reduce their toxicity and improve the quality of life of patients with leukemia, lymphoma and related cancers.
