Hot Buttered Rum
I always make this for guests during the Autumn Months. It is a huge hit at Thanksgiving as well. My family loves to have a never ending cocktail hour before we eat at 6pm or later. I was a functioning bartender at the age of 4! I think I know how to make every alcoholic beverage that exists as that comes with being raised with mostly Irish and Wasp relatives. Most Wasps and Irish Families drink most of the day and eat late. Most Italian families eat all day and only have a little wine.
2 cups boiling water
1 cup dark rum
1 1/2 tbsp. raw white Indian honey
4 tsp. of margarine or smart spread butter substitute
1 tsp. Angostura bitters
6 whole cloves
Pour boiling water into large metal fondue pot over direct high flame; bring to a boil.
Lower flame; stir in remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil; turn heat off.
Let mixture stand 2 to 3 minutes and ladle into heavy mugs.
Yield = 3 to 4 servings
