Euan and Risa first met in Singapore in 2012 when they were paddling for the same canoe team together. Things moved pretty fast from there on and they decided to get married in June 2013 and then moved to Hawaii for Risa’s work as a media consultant and documentary maker.
Proposal: I proposed in my home town of Dorking, Surrey, UK on the top of Box Hill. It’s a place that was a big part of my childhood from sledging down the slopes to family walks and mountain biking up it. It’s a beautiful place and overlooks my home town. The ring is a ruby set with 0.5 carat diamonds which my grandfather gave to my grandmother on their 40th wedding anniversary.
Theme: We wanted to stay true to the culture, spirit and environment of the location that is now our home (Hawaii). So we had a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony, set at a small private beachfront house. We kept the colors and materials very natural to make our celebration feel like an organic part of our surroundings. Hawaii is so beautiful it doesn’t need much accessorizing!
Dress: the dress was actually a separate top and skirt. The miniskirt was by Herve L. Leroux, and the top was a one-of-a-kind piece handmade using vintage lace, by a small French boutique designer. Shoes were purple Cole Haans. Groom is wearing a shirt by Thomas Pink and shorts from Banana Republic
Cake: we had tiers of Liliha Bakery Coco Puffs – our favorite local treat! Everyone loves these.
