What is the first thing that you think of when you hear of New York? Lots of people would say that it would be fashion. Yes, New York is all about fashion. As most people think about fashion when they talk about New York, I’ve been dreaming about meeting people who work in the fashion industry when I decided to intern at Asiance in New York. One day, I attended an event called, “Fashion Matters” and met several famous Asian-American designers work in New York. Out of the 6 designers, I was totally intrigued by Gemma Kahng’s work and her opinion about fashion.

Each Fashion Week in New York City, The Academy of Art in San Francisco selects a few students to come to fashion week to show off their talent. We always feature the Asian ones! I was intrigued by the cute, spunky Asian girl who was running around backstage but managed to have a cool demeanor. Her name is Jie Pan.

In every culture throughout time, the romantic story of star crossed lovers maintains permanence due to the way it touches upon human being's search for that perfect love. Even with the popularity of Twilight, its the unattainability or the forbidden nature of the love that keeps us watching. We salute the star crossed lovers through out time and ethnicities. I remember when I couldn’t stop watching the Wonder Girls’ music videos, especially for the song, "Nobody". It was one of my favorite songs and I loved their hair style in the music video. So when I found out that I was going to be interviewing Ayumi, the hair stylist to the Wonder Girls, I was extremely excited.

Hong Kong–born Rachel Rutt began modeling just last year in Australia. I've seen her walk for 3.1 phillip lim and Doo.Ri at New York Fashion Week. Industry insiders are calling her the next big thing. With an Eastern Western combination and shared culture to match it's no wonder Rachel is causing quite a riot! I wanted you to get to know a little more about this upcoming sensation.

Roy grew up in Northern California and graduated from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD with a degree in communications. Rachel's first job in fashion was at a Contempo Casuals clothing outlet in her home town at age 14. After college, Rachel moved to New York and became an intern at Rocawear, where she rose to become creative director of the women's and childrens divisions. She also fell in love with ½ of the Rocawear brand, Damon Dash. They married on January 15, 2005 and have a daughter named Ava.

I am quite the skeptic when it comes to facials, perhaps because of how sensitive my skin is, but when my business partner Metta came to work one day with buttery soft skin and feeling like her face had been “magically lifted a couple of inches”, I was intrigued. Metta had gotten the facial with Julie Lindh, who is considered one of the most sought-after natural facial rejuvenation experts in NYC.

What to do with pregnancy acne? I am happy to say that I have had a very easy pregnancy so far, knock on wood. No nausea, no excessive tiredness or pain or anything really out of the ordinary, except my poor skin. Do I have that pregnancy glow? Well, if oily and very shiny skin plus glowing break-outs count as a glow, then yes, I have a glow. Before I got pregnant, I had dry, very sensitive skin with mild rosacea. Now, I have very oily skin with more break outs. The hot and humid August weather in New York doesn’t exactly help.
