Late Night Lover #1
Earlier this year I was cast in a small role in Steve McQueen’s 2nd film “Shame” starring Michael Fassbender. Michael Fassbender was in “The Inglorious Bastards” and “X-Men First Class” – he played the young Magneto. I was cast to be in a pivotal scene in “Shame” along with fellow burlesque performer and friend DeeDee Lux.
The film has been winning tons of awards at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival to name a few, and there is talk that Michael will win an Oscar for his role in the film. Well, last week, the official trailer came out and I was very flattered to see that DeeDee and I made it in the trailer! You can see a glimpse of us around 0:44seconds into it, and you can see Michael kissing me at 1:00. In the film there’s alot more! I love my job!
Fox Searchlight has bought the film and it will be released in the US on December 2, 2011 – just in time for the holidays! Haha. It’s not a “holiday” film, but rather an intense study of sexual addiction. Yup. The film is about sex addiction, and the press have been making a field day out of the nudity in the film such as NY Post Page Six’s sensationalizing “Burlesque star Calamity Chang gives us a behind-the-scene peek at Michael Fassbender’s new film, “Shame” or OK Magazine’s “Fassbender spiced up sex scene with music and liquor”.
I finally saw it a couple of weeks ago at the private screening for cast and crew at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. And it was nothing like I was imagining. Based on the way the press have been harping on Michael’s full frontal and the sex scenes, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’ve written about the day of the shoot on my blog which you can read here in more detail. But our scene was just stunning, lush, and beautiful. I was not surprised that it would be beautiful since Steve came from a fine art background. David Lynch is also another fine artist (painter) who moved onto to motion. A natural progression I believe since film is rather like a moving painting.
I can’t wait to see the film out in the theaters in December, and I hope Michael wins an Oscar for this film!

This film loooksss sooooo good! Can’t wait to see it!
Congrats on your role in “Shame”! It is surely a must see. Michael Fassbender was incredible in “The Inglorious Bastards”. I love that movie. If you haven’t seen that movie, rent it.
Inglourious Basterds – Official Trailer
Yes, indeed. He was great in the Tarantino film. He is already working on a third film with Steve called “Seven Years a Slave” which he said is about slavery in America. Can’t wait to see that!
