Speaker Gingrich
When confronted with complex problems Americans have a storied history of making the difficult decisions necessary for real solutions. Our nation is facing a vast array of incredible problems at home and abroad. The economy remains stagnate because of the failed policies of a radical administration, and the world is in turmoil as this president simultaneously apologizes for American Exceptionalism and alienates our traditional allies. People are hungry for a nuanced discussion as they seek the candidate to replace President Obama. Sadly, the modern media has other motives.
Take the recent debate between Speaker Gingrich and Herman Cain as an example of the media’s motives. During that discussion, Speaker Gingrich offered numerous bold solutions to tackle the nation’s entitlement problems, including repealing Obamacare, abolishing the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), and block-granting all means-tested entitlements. People who watched the debate kept saying how refreshing it was to hear the candidates discuss these problems in a detailed way.
That people no longer expect detailed discussions is an indictment on the traditional media. Their debates are centered around creating conflict between the candidates and highlighting the perceived brilliance of their chosen moderators. The moderators are not timed on their questions and yet the candidates are limited to :60 answers or :30 responses. The media is pushing for counterproductive and shallow discussions because it protects their ability to choose the president. To protect their power, the media ignored two of the top three candidates having a candid discussion on entitlements by focusing their coverage on Herman Cain’s refusal to answer their overly dramatic questions.
Speaker Gingrich is surging because he isn’t trying to dumb-down his ideas to appeal to the producers of the Jersey Shore. Speaker Gingrich has respect for the intelligence of the American people, and they are responding positively to being treated like adults. This campaign will continue to seek venues and formats that go into detail because Newt’s ideas and knowledge are at a presidential caliber. If you want a president with the bold ideas to lead and a president who sees the value in collective brilliance of the American people, we need your help this week!
