Doo-Ri Chung selected to design for Macy’s

Doo-Ri Chung, who was recently named the next featured designer for Macy’s Impulse. This announcement came just days after Michelle Obama wore one of her pieces to a state dinner with the South Korean president.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that the Korean designer has created a lower-priced capsule collection for the retailer. The line will debut on February 15 and will sell for eight weeks in 225 Macy’s stores and online.

As nearly every high-fashion designer has said of collaborating, “The customer is very different from whom we’ve catered to before, but I really didn’t have to adapt. Macy’s wanted to keep the design level high. I didn’t feel the challenge was very different,” Chung told WWD.

  • There are some great Korean designers that are slowly but surely hitting the world stage. We introduced great designers like Doori on the official government blog for project Advanced Technology and Design Korea. We posted this on our Facebook and twitter as well. Great post and keep it up and see you again soon! (@advancedtechkr)
