Tiger Mother Finds Like Minds in India

Tiger Mom, Amy Chua, finds herself in good company in India at the Jaipur Literature Festival, where she was speaking about her book on Saturday.

Chua spoke about her much-talked about book, “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” at Saturday’s event. While her book has sparked many debates in America, Chua seems to have found an alliance for her methods of child raising in India, where they applauded her efforts and likened her parenting skills to that of their own.

“The Indian parenting method is very similar,” said author and journalist Madhu Trehan.

However, not everyone who attended agreed with Chua’s strict methods. One woman left part-way through the event, saying that she felt Chua was “shrill”.

While many have seen the book as a how-to category_ide, Chua said that the book wasn’t meant to be a parenting category_ide. Rather, “It’s all about requesting what is important in life,” she explains.
