Better Than Art Class

I’ve had such a busy, exciting week highlighted on Thursday night when Luma Rouge came to my show and created her famous live drawings during the show! Luma Rouge is known in the burlesque community for her illustrations and paintings created live and finished from memory. Her attention to detail of our costumes, the lines of the female body, and the vibrancy and atmosphere of the location she is depicting are absolutely impressive. I’ve had the honor of being drawn by her several times, and I’ve also had the pleasure of being able to watch her in action during other performers’ acts. She arrives with a big sketchpad, a few color pencils, and she gets to work! Every now and then she’ll take a photo so that later when she is filling out the illustrations with watercolor, she retains her precision. She is a bit of a celebrity and is often flown out to burlesque festivals to illustrate the performances. You can find Luma and more of her amazing drawings on Facebook here >
