Burlesque on “My Big Redneck Vacation” on CMT

Has anyone watched the new reality show on Country Music Television called “My Big Redneck Vacation”? It’s on Saturday nights and the episode where my show is in just aired last night!

The show is based on a family from Shreveport, LA who has been transported, trailer and southern lifestyle intact, to The Hamptons for the summer. For one of their outings, they came to experience their first New York City burlesque show at my Thursday night show at Nurse Bettie.

I remember the night they came to film. The Clampets (the adults at least, the kiddies stayed in the hotel for their night out) were SO nice and easy going, and just nice, friendly folks having a good time and more importantly, a good sense of humour about themselves as “rednecks” floundering around with the snobby Hamptonites. The southern part of me (I grew up in the Dallas/Ft Worth area of Texas after all) really liked these folks. After the show, they even invited me and the performers to their wedding out in the Hamptons! Unfortunately, we all had conflicting gigs that night and were not able to attend the wedding which I am sure will be…unique with a special Clampet flair! That episode has yet to be aired but I’m sure it’s gonna be unusual.

The show is narrated by Tom Arnold in a “Pop Up Music Video” kind of way and it actually works really well. The episode that my show appears in is called “The Clampets Take Manhattan”. We start in at around 26:40.
