Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh on Wednesday confirmed that she will be appearing

Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh on Wednesday confirmed that she will be appearing in a sequel to the hit 2001 martial arts epic “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, during a promotional event in Beijing, reported Hong Kong media.

However, the 49-year-old star refused to divulge further details of the film or its cast.

While Yeoh will return in the sequel, the film company working on the “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” sequel has earlier revealed that “Life of Pi” director Lee Ang, who helmed the original, will not.

Hong Kong director Ronny Yu, who had previously worked on films like “Fearless” and “Freddy vs. Jason”, will reportedly be directing the sequel.

“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, which starred Yeoh, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat, was based on the fourth book in Chinese writer Wang Du Lu’s “Crane-Iron” series of books.

Its sequel will be based on the final book in Wang’s pentalogy, “Iron Knight-Silver Vase”, and will revolve around Yu Shu Lien, Yeoh’s character in the film adaptation of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”.

The sequel will go into production in May and is expected to be completed in 2014.
