LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD

The Legacy of an Adopted Child-I just found a clipping that I had saved about the natural mother of a daughter who was adopted five days after birth. It is a source of constant, quiet pain that these women endure each passing day as they cannot express love for their child. They make a very brave and selfless decision to give a child up for adoption and it is the most noble gesture of all! These girls/young women give that child up so as to enable him/her to be welcomed into a family who has loved and provided much better care than she could have herself. As one who is pro-life, I would also like to state that carrying a baby full-term and giving that baby up for adoption is probably one of the most difficult decisions a young woman will ever have to make. I don’t know from experience mind you but I can only imagine! As an adopted child myself, I would like to dedicate this to all of the women out there who went through and are going through that selfless act and to all of the wonderful adoptive parents who have provided a wonderful and caring home for those adopted children, LIKE Katherine Heigl, a GREAT MOM, AMAZING ROLE MODEL AND SUPERB ACTRESS and LITTLE NALEIGH! I DEDICATE THIS POEM TO MY MOTHER AND TO MY AMAZING PARENTS. 🙂

Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there were to women
Who never knew each other.
One you do not remember,
The other you call mother.

Two different lives
Shaped to make your one.

One became your category_iding star,
The other became your sun.

The first gave you life
And the second taught you to live in it.

The first gave you a need for love
And the second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality,
The other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent,
The other gave you an aim.

One gave you emotions,
The other calmed your fears.

One saw your first sweet smile,
The other dried your tears.

One gave you up-
It was all she could do.
The other prayed for a child.
And God led her straight to YOU!
