Sacramento Kings Dancer Brittney

The Sacramento Kings trace their origins to a local semi-professional team based in Rochester, New York in the early 1920s, making them one of the oldest basketball clubs still in existence. What team wouldn’t be complete without some of the hottest “Best in the West” dancers to accompany the Maloof franchise?

Brittney has been dancing since she was 5 years old. She has learned how to do tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, and hip hop. Brittney has been in numerous competitions both regional and national. She has also taken intensive summer dance training classes, dance workshops, and taught cheerleading. Throughout elementary, junior high, and high school Brittney was involved with Pep and Cheer.

“To become a NBA Dancer, one has to have a well rounded personality. You have to have the skills and technique in dances,” says Brittney. “You also have to be able to speak in pubic because you are always doing appearance in your community”.

Jeremy Lin is book smart and did not let obstacles hinder him from pursing his dream of becoming a professional basketball player. I absolutely love it!!!

ASIANCE: How did you know that you wanted to be a NBA Dancer?

Brittney: When I was 13 years old, I knew I wanted to be a NBA Dancer after I met my first NBA Dancer. She choreographed our competition pep routine which we took 1st place at Nationals. I remember the choreographer was very professional, beautiful and funny, and I really looked up to her. That was when I knew I wanted to be just like her!

ASIANCE: What did your family think of you pursuing a different career path besides the traditional Asian careers our parents push us into?

Brittney: I was very fortunate that my parents have always supported me in whatever I wanted to be. My parents still expect me to continue my education, but for the mean time they know how important it is for me to full fill my dream as an NBA Dancer.

ASIANCE: When did you realize that you wanted to be a Sacramento Kings Dancer?

Brittney: I have a friend that was a Sacramento Kings Dancer and she spoke highly of the organization and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

ASIANCE: Who is your current favorite Sacramento Kings player?

Brittney: My current favorite Sacramento Kings player is Isaiah Thomas.

ASIANCE: Who is your favorite basketball player of all time?

Brittney: My favorite basketball player of all time is Michael Jordan.

ASIANCE: What is the first thing you notice in a man?

Brittney: The first thing I notice in a man is his smile.

ASIANCE: What qualities do you look for in a boyfriend?

Brittney: The qualities I look for in a boyfriend are honesty, respect, and easy going.

ASIANCE: Do you have a celebrity crush on someone who is in the public eye that you would like to date? We want a feel for your type!

Brittney: My celebrity crush is Ryan Reynolds.

ASIANCE: What was the worst pickup line you have ever heard?

Brittney: “Are your legs tired because you’ve been running through my mind all day?”

ASIANCE: Name three words that describe you.

Brittney: Ambitious, punctual and fun.

ASIANCE: What is your favorite activity to do in Sacramento?

Brittney: My favorite activity to do in Sacramento is bike riding along the American River.

ASIANCE: What is your best feature?

Brittney: My best feature is my smile.

ASIANCE: What is the most adventurous thing you have done?

Brittney: My cousins and I were on a road trip and the cousin that was driving decided to pick up a hitch hiker. My advice to you is to never pick up a hitch hiker.

ASIANCE: What is the best part about being a Sacramentio Kings Dancer?

Brittney: The best part about being a Sacramento Kings Dancer is getting to do what you love.

ASIANCE: Do you think that Asian/Asian American Women are finally making strides on the professional cheerleading/dance squads?

Brittney: Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. If you look at every professional cheerleading/dance squads, Asians are still the minority.

ASIANCE: What is the greatest accomplishment in your life thus far?

Brittney: The greatest accomplishment in my life thus far is making the Sacramento Kings Dance Team.

ASIANCE: Where do you hope your NBA Dancing experience will lead you to?

Brittney: I hope my NBA Dancing experience will lead me to having more confidence and accomplishing anything I want to.

ASIANCE: How do you manage to look so perfect throughout the game?

Brittney: I manage to look so perfect throughout the game with plenty of dance practice and since we are not on the court the whole game, I can run back and touch up on my hair and make-up in the locker room.

ASIANCE: Do you have any “beauty secrets” that you can share with our readers?

Brittney: My “beauty secrets” are: drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.

ASIANCE: What advice do you have for young girls aspiring to become NBA Dancers?

Brittney: My advice is to never give up on your dream of becoming a NBA Dancer. Dreams do come true and if you work hard, you will make it.

ASIANCE: What do you like of this Jeremy Lin phenomenon? Asian on the court!!
