No. 5 seed Li Na overcame the second set lose to beat Ekaterina Makarova from Russia 6-4, 6-7 (7- 5), 6-2 on Tuesday en route to women’s singles final four, becoming the first Chinese player to reach US Open semi-final.
Li also refreshed her personal US Open record by advancing into semi-final, and she reached at least semi-final for three straight WTA tournaments including in Toronto and Cincinnati.
The Chinese talent moved in the Tuesday’s match without losing a single set. She had previously played Makarova for three times, winning all of them.
