Project by Project Turns 15!
After 15 years of volunteers supporting Asian American communities, Project by Project has grown from a NY chapter to a Los Angeles and a San Francisco one. It continues to be one of the largest Asian American non-profits in the US. To celebrate their 15th anniversary, they held their annual NY benefit, Plate by Plate, at one of the city’s best known landmarks, the New York Public Library. Guests were able to sample delicacies from purveyors around the city including, All’Onda, Bell Book & Candle, Betel Bar & Kitchen, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Blue Smoke, Edi & The Wolf, Ember Room, The French Culinary Institute, Ilili, je & jo, Kasadela, Macao Trading Co, Pranna, The Sea Grill, Thalassa, and Yerba Buena Perry. Some of our favorite beverages were from Thai based Chang Beer, a range of Japanese sakes from Sake Discoveries, Sorel liquor mixed with Prosecco, Veev cocktails and wines from Vin Sur Vingt. We even tried the #1 Chinese luxury liquor usually served at banquets, Moutai, which was strong enough to put hair on your back.
A highlight was watching Chef Kerry Heffernan and CNBC’s Seema Mody whip up a delicious pasta vongole in minutes making it look like a cinch to do at home. It was a beautiful evening for a beautiful cause.
