Dining in the Dark with Cleanlogic
In the wake of Sandy, about 25% of NYC is now dining in the dark with most residents south of 39 street without power. Though this is obviously inconvenient, it can also be enlightening as we are forced to take the time to reflect and see what its like to dine in the dark.
We had the opportunity to do this earlier this month with Cleanlogic, who wanted to raise awareness amongst visually healthy individuals with the experience of blindness. By wearing blindfolds and being led to a multicourse dinner with wine and food, it actually tastes different in complete darkness as your other senses are heightened and you only have the sound of other voices to imagine who you’re seated with.
Though it was only an hour, dining in the dark is something that is unnerving yet an unforgettable experience.
Cleanlogic is an eco-friendly bath and body care line that has committed itself to raising awareness as well as funds for those who struggle with the condition of blindness through its integration of functional Braille on product packaging. The 13-product collection offers all of the essentials for a perfect shower experience while still keeping environmental sustainability in mind. The line includes everything from mesh bath sponges and facial buffs to moisture gloves and socks.
Materials used for these products include bamboo and ramie plants, synthetic bristles, and natural loofah materials that are grown from the ground.
