The world’s top six female golfers – Inbee Park, Lydia Ko, Stacy
The world’s top six female golfers – Inbee Park, Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis, Shanshan Feng, Suzann Pettersen and Michelle Wie – will battle for the 2015 HSBC Women’s Champions trophy.
Dubbed as Asia’s Major, the tournament takes place at the Sentosa Golf Club from March 5 to 8, said HSBC in a press release.
Four-time Major winner Inbee Park from South Korea, who finished tied for fourth in the tournament last year, said she is looking forward to returning to Singapore. “I know the course suits my game so hopefully I can play well this year as it is a title I would love to win to get my season off to the best possible start.”
Stacy Lewis, the winner in 2013, is also vying for the top spot in the world rankings. “I really enjoy this event and am proud of having won two years ago. I would like to win this again.”
“It is a great tournament and so many of the world’s best players will be there again in March so I am excited to get back to Singapore to see if I can repeat my performance of 2013,” Lewis said, who is also third in the Official Rolex World Rankings.
The eighth installment of the tournament comes with a prize purse of US$1.4 million (S$1.86 million).
