Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has accepted a marriage proposal from 43-year-old Chinese rock star Wang Feng who delivered a 9.15 carat diamond ring to her by drone at her 36th birthday on Saturday (Feb 7), reported Chinese media.

“We stand in full view of everyone and experienced both happiness and sadness. I hope Ziyi can always have only happy times. Even if we are old, I can still take care of you,” said Wang on bended knee, as fireworks lit up the night sky outside.

Zhang was moved to tears and said “I do”, amid applause from her celebrity friends like Wang Lee Hom, Na Ying and Han Geng who attended the event. It was reported that Wang Feng was so elated that he shouted for joy.

The actress thanked her friends for being with her at the event, and said that although they have gone through some difficult times together with her, she will only remember the happy occasions.

Wang spared no expense to make sure Zhang’s birthday party-cum-proposal was one for the books. Apart from the diamond ring, he also bought her a ruby bracelet. The rocker is estimated to have spent over 1 million yuan (S$210,000) on the event.

Wang started dating Zhang about two years ago. During that time, he had expressed his love for her on numerous occasions, but stopped just short of proposing to her, leaving fans speculating just when he would pop the question.
