State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is endorsing Toby Ann Stavisky in her reelection

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is endorsing Toby Ann Stavisky in her reelection bid for the State Senate.

Stavisky is running in a redrawn district in Queens that now has a strong Asian-American majority. The incumbent senator has received endorsements from every Asian-American elected politician in New York City. If she defeats Democratic challenger John Messer in the September primary, Stavisky would face Korean-American real estate agent J.D. Kim in the general election.

“Toby Stavisky is a leader who produces results for Queens because her focus is on how best to retain and create jobs for Queens,” DiNapoli said. “Toby is a steward of good government committed to standing up for taxpayers each and every day. She embodies what public service should be all about and I am proud to endorse her today.”

Stavisky thanked DiNapoli for his support and called him a”long-time friend” and “true advocate for New York State taxpayers.”

Stavisky was the first woman to represent Queens in the State Senate when she was elected in 1999. She was reelected in 2010 with 87% of the vote, according to her website.
