Marisa Sung’s Rules of Etiquette for the Modern World Number 22

When a host/hostess is kind enough to invite you to a dinner party or a soiree, always bring a gift as a nice gesture regardless. When you bring that “small token of your appreciation” know enough not to take the leftover wine/dessert/appetizer home with you! I cannot tell you how many times I have witnessed a guest taking the item that they brought to the party home with them. It doesn’t occur often but enough to make a mark. It makes one appear to be cheap and/or an “Indian Giver” which is incredibly unattractive.
