Marisa Sung’s Rules of Etiquette for the Modern World Number 26

What does it really mean to be eccentric and/or quirky?? People are always telling me that I am quirky and that I march to the beat of my own drummer. I have been called peculiar, strange and odd. I have also been known to be “crazy” by members of my own family “in a loving way of course.” Whatever that means??

When a person is very rich he/she is eccentric but if you have similar idiosyncracies and you are not very rich-you are known to be crazy like Dr. Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory.” Even so, if you are “eccentric” in any way that does not give you the green light to act like a bitch from hell, attempt to drive an employee insane, threaten individuals of lesser power or treat people like shit on your shoe. I have encountered more than a few very rich eccentrics on my journey who use their “eccentric nature” as an excuse to act in any way that they choose. Just because you like to label yourself as “different” does not make it alright for you to act worse than a monkey in a cage. And then worst of all, promote yourself as the “Mother Theresa” of peace, tranquility and charity and the “Ghandi” of the human race. Buy some good breeding and manners, grooming habits and some decent clothes somewhere and put all of that money to good use! 🙁
