Marisa Sung’s Rules of Etiquette for the Modern World Number 36

Thou shalt not invade my personal space. I cannot tell you how many times people come right up to me, almost touching my face and they continue to invade my personal space by chatting away and looking me up and down (both men and women) as though it is perfectly normal?? I understand that the concept of “personal space” is not observed in China and this is an issue that I feel I need to explain to individuals of all backgrounds. I am a germaphobe and this practice is not only insulting to me but also unsanitary!! 🙁 Please keep in mind at all times that unless you are moving in on your lover, partner, superbad girl, etc. it is highly inappropriate to stand so close that you are like white on rice with that individual! I hope this helps and have a wonderful day! 🙂
