Kamala Harris Re-Elected As California Attorney General

We’re so excited about this!

California Attorney General Kamala Harris defeated Republican Ronald Gold in Tuesday’s election.

Harris was first elected as the state’s top cop in 2010. Previously, she served as San Francisco District Attorney.

Following U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation in September, Harris was floated as a possible replacement. However, she said she has no interest in the post at this time.

“I am honored to even be mentioned, but intend to continue my work for the people of California as Attorney General,” Harris said in a statement. “I am focused on key public safety issues including transnational gangs, truancy and recidivism.”

Gold, a former deputy state Attorney General, finished more than 40 points behind Harris in June’s open primary.

Kamala is half South Asian.
