Laura Ling Joins Discovery Digital Networks
Laura Ling is joining Discovery’s digital wing with the mission to create more online-native content for the the company’s web presence.
Ling will be Director of Development for the digital networks, which currently generate 150 million streams a month to online viewers. The 110 online series and channels that are part of Discovery Digital include such big sites as Sourcefed, Revision3, Animalist and The DeFranco Network.
She most recently was host and a reporter on two documentary series for E!, including E! Investigates and Society X with Laura Ling. She previously was VP of the journalism department at Current TV, where she also was a correspondent with the documentary show Vanguard. She also has worked at KCET, Channel One and MTV, and won both an Emmy and an Edward R. Murrow Award for her work.
Ling’s sister is also a notable broadcast journalist, Lisa Ling of CNN’s This Is Life documentary series. Laura Ling wrote about her sister’s arrest and captivity in North Korea while working on a story.

I know a couple of the more popular contributors here refer to the sisters as “The Ding-a-Lings”, but I recently started watching Lisa’s show on Sunday nights (assuming Sunday Night Football doesn’t go OT) and found it interesting. OK…let me have it…..
Both Ling-A-Dings are tremendous opportunists! Lisa Ling harrassed every media contact she had to feature her sister’s captivity when Laura brought it upon herself. She knowingly violated the Laws of North Korea by trespassing. Kim Jong Il tells me to stay out of North Korea=I respect that command and listen! He means serious business as does his son Kim Jong Un! She did this in order to gain Notoriety as a Journalist and didn’t bother at all to think about how the consequences would effect others. Both sisters are narcissists as they co-authored a book and barely said thanks for the free air-time, Government Intervention and use of other people’s money to execute the rescue effort. Who the hell are they anyway?? She should be kissing the ground Larry King and Bill Clinton walk on and they should both dedicate their lives to giving back but instead they consistently look for ways to profit on ventures for themselves alone! It is despicable to watch how incredibly selfish they are! Sorry, but I tell it like it is. Girls, enough with taking advantage and getting off scot free! They are harldy role-models for young Asian Girls due to their greed and lack of concern for others! 🙁
