Incumbent Oakland Mayor Jean Quan leads a field of likely contenders in her bid for reelection next November, a business group’s poll found, with one important caveat.

Quan drops to second behind council member Rebecca Kaplan if Kaplan is included in the race alongside several other challengers, the poll by David Binder Research found.

Still, the Oakland Tribune reported, 54 percent of Oaklanders surveyed disapprove of Quan’s job performance.

The poll surveyed 500 likely voters between Nov. 11 and 13.
