The Perfect Decorations for your Winter Wonderland Soiree
Planning a Holiday Party on a budget has never been easier! There are so many stores that cater to party planning such as Party City, Jo Ann Fabric, Hobby Lobby, and Michael’s to name but a few. Both party planning and craft/hobby stores have an exclusive array of beautiful merchandise at very reasonable prices. They also have weekly coupons that you can take advantage of from 20% – 60% of your total bill!
For our Winter Wonderland Holiday Party, we will need several items that can be purchased from any of the aforementioned stores. I have outlined the Dessert Bar featuring Grandma’s Dessert Bars with 3 different recipes. Now I will go over the logistics for the decor and finally I will outline the recipes for the hot and cold buffet.
Decoration Items:
White tablecloths
White Christmas lights
At least 1 White Christmas Tree Topiary(preferably with lights)at each end of the Buffet Table
Silver taper candles with glass candlesticks
At least one sack of pine cones
Silver spray paint
Cinnamon and clove room spray for the room and for the silver colored pine cones
A few strands of Silver Christmas garland
A box of baby candy canes
Silver Utensils, White and/or Silver service wear and white and/or silver napkins
The focal point of the party is the Buffet Table at which one Christmas topiary will appear at each end of the table. The table will be covered with a plain white tablecloth and the Christmas garland will be draped to cover the entire circumference of the table(s). At least 4 Silver candles should appear on the table lit by each station of the Buffet Table = hot and cold appetizers station, hot and cold entrees station, desserts bar station and finally the utensils, napkins and china station. The Cocktail Station should stand separately and contain a white tablecloth with the silver pine cones lined along the entire circumference of the table. Include such offerings as low fat eggnog and/or mulled wine or hot buttered rum, an array of red and white wines like Carletto Wines, assorted fruit juice and soda, assorted Spirits and sparkling water with the usual garnish=cherries, baby candy canes, lemon and lime wedges. Be sure to provide a lot of ice in a silver or white colored ice bucket with tongs.
I will post my recipe for low fat eggnog with Rum and feature the recipes for both the hot and cold appetizers and entrees that will appear on the Buffet Table. Check out my recipe for Grandma’s Dessert Bars for the Dessert Station.
Finally, buy some mistletoe to add that element of fun to the party. Music is probably the most important feature of the event and as such should be chosen carefully. I love the Christmas Classics sung by such musicians as Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr. etc.
