Asia Fashion Collection Launches at NYFW
To demonstrate the support that Asia has in fostering new design talent, the Asia Fashion Collection (AFC) returned to New York Fashion Week with six new designers who presented their Fall Collections at the Salon, Lincoln Center with emerging designers from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong to show the world the rising talent of the East.
AFC features emerging talents from multiple countries across Asia who have been selected through local competitions. The Japanese designers were selected by a judging panel, which included the Director of BEAMS, the Head Buyer of Barney’s New York, and the editor-in-chief of FASHION NEWS and Nume’ro TOKYO. The other three designers were selected through recommendations from Korea Fashion Association, Taiwan Textile Federation, and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
Each organization selected one designer who is residing in the area where the organization is based. The Fall 2015 roster includes: Athena Chuang (Taiwan), TSUBASA SHINYO (Japan), ZOKUZOKUB (Japan), old honey (Japan), noirer (South Korea), NelsonBlackle (Hong Kong.)
“We’re excited to give this latest group of talented Asian designers an international platform during New York Fashion Week,” said Vantan Design Institute COO, Hiromi Ishikawa. “Feedback on last year’s show was overwhelmingly positive and we have a very talented line up for 2015.”
Asia Fashion Collection (AFC), produced by Vantan and PARCO, in cooperation with the supporting industry organizations based in Asia, gave the ultimate opportunity to hit the runway of New York to top designers alongside talented design students from Vantan Design Institute. Asia Fashion Collection, aiming to further development of the Asian fashion industry, is a national mechanism linked with a project to identify and incubate the young designers of Asia. The designers will participate in post-show incubation programs such as exhibitions and various promotional events held in Asia.
“PARCO is excited to return again this year to partner with the Asia Fashion Collection,” said Executive Officer for New Business Planning Group, Parco Co Ltd., Gaku Mizoguchi. “It’s important for Asian designers to have a presence in New York and on the global stage.” For more information, visit www.asiafashioncollection.com.
