For a while, Flow Sik was nowhere to be found. After the release of “Find a Way Out” and a couple of singles, he disappeared for almost a year. However, it was reported the man was cooking up big things behind closed doors.

It was from a Jay-Z song, he started the song off with “J-A-Y, I flow sick”

ASIANCE: When and why did you first start rhyming?

Flowsik: I started making rap music at the age of 15. My older brother was always writing rhymes before I started and I always wondered what he was doing. He always blasted music and wrote lyrics which led me in the same direction. I look up to him a lot. Thank you Dae Gunz.

ASIANCE: How did you get the name ‘Flow Sik’?

Flowsik: My brother also laced me with the pseudonym. It was from a Jay-Z song, he started the song off with “J-A-Y, I flow sick”, its all history from there. “Flow” also means to kick rhymes, and “Sik” is my actual government middle name. Basically, the name says that rapping is a part of me, it’s who I am.

ASIANCE: What do you think about Asian rap industry in China, Korea and Japan etc?

Flowsik: Hip hop is universal. Hip hop in Asia is huge and is still growing today. I feel great seeing hip hop blowing up in Asia. Being of Korean descent, I want to be part of the hip hop movement out there in addition to my grind in the US.

ASIANCE: Who were some of your influences in the music community and why?

Flowsik: I have to say that Jay-Z has had the biggest influence on me. He got so far with his music and his business hustle is real hard; he knows that this is the business of music. He inspires me to do the same.

ASIANCE: Who was your favorite artist to work with so far and why?

Flowsik: My favorite artist I worked with so far is Ice-T. He was and still is a living legend in music and the entertainment industry, and I thank him sincerely for helping me out. God is blessing me so much, and I know for a FACT that God is working through me and helping me.

ASIANCE: How do you get the power to create your music?

Flowsik: By having faith. Having faith that God gave me the gift to do this. Faith can do beautiful things.

ASIANCE: Did your upbringing have any sort of influence in the music that you make today?

Flowsik: Definitely! Getting this far in the music field and plans to make it to the top is basically what I write about. Anyone can relate to my grind and hard work and I hope my music can help others follow their hearts and live out their dreams.

ASIANCE: Let our public know the craziest thing that ever happened at your show?

Flowsik: Hahaha… Well there was this one time, I was on a college campus tour and one night we had a gig at Binghamton University. I toured so much, when I was performing one of my songs “The Take Over” (remix), I was kicking lyrics from another song, not to mention half the club was on stage. It wasn’t until the end when I realized I was rapping the wrong lyrics, which made everyone laugh, but still enjoyed it.

ASIANCE: When and where can we see you perform and get your album in the up and coming months?

Flowsik: New performances pop up out of nowhere, please check www.myspace.com/flowsik for events and updates. My highly anticipated mixtape entitled “Before the Beginning…” will be released very, very soon. You can also check www.myspace.com/flowsik for news on that. I also have my own website, www.flow-sik.com, but due to renovation it is temporarily down. But my MySpace page has everything you need, from music to video clips, pictures, news, events, etc. You’ll be surprised with what MySpace can do for you.

ASIANCE: Could you tell us something about Asian women?

Flowsik: I love them.
