JY Park of JYP Entertainment kicking off his US Tour
JYP Entertainment announced that JY Park, singer, producer, and CEO of JYP Entertainment will be kicking off his US Tour, on February 29th 2008 at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden. The JYP Tour 2008 will feature performances by JY Park and some of his newest artists in both Asia and the United States. “This is a true crossover event that my staff and I have been working on for a long time,” says JY Park. “The first ever JYP Tour will feature me as the main performer, but this will become a showcase and music festival that will bring together in one event the hottest and most talented artists representing Asia.” Artists scheduled to perform with JY include Wonder Girls, Korea’s Best New Artists of 2007 with “Tell Me”, one of the biggest hit singles in Korean music history, Korean vocal sensation J. Lim, R&B prodigy G-Soul, and JY’s newest protégé Min. The Harlem Boys Choir will also be making a guest performance at the concert, along with a few other surprise celebrity guests.
In addition to the Tour, JY Park is currently preparing Min and G-Soul for the release of their debut albums in the U.S. “This Tour will introduce some of our newest and most talented artists,” explains Woo S. Rhee, Sr. VP of JYP USA. “Min’s a prodigy when it comes to dancing and performing onstage. G-Soul has been singing gospel since he was 8 years old and is a major R&B talent. J. Lim has already had a successful track record in Asia as a top vocal talent. They all have what it takes to make it to the top in the U.S.” Music industry veterans here seem to agree. Min has already signed a co-management and co-production deal with JYP USA and Lil Jon’s BME Click. Her highly anticipated first single will be released by May of 2008, followed by the release of her debut album in the U.S. G-Soul, who cites inspiration from R&B legends such as Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, will be working with R. Kelly on his first album, also slated to release later this year. Big Boi from Outkast has already vowed to work with J. Lim and produce her future albums. He has already collaborated with J. Lim on her single “Crazy for Love” from her recently released 3rd album, “Before I Go J. Lim” in Asia. With all the activity surrounding JYP’s new roster of artists, it’s no wonder that this highly anticipated Tour has already garnered a lot of attention from both the media and the fans.
