Big Will – Continuing Strong

Two years ago, Asiance had the chance to talk with Big Will, the CEO and executive producer of WWS Magazine, the world’s first digital magazine packaged in a compact disc. Fast forward to today and Big Will has been striving strong in his career: his debut album as a recording artist will be released this year (with two singles being released this month!), he has helped dish out a new digital magazine called DTS, opened up his own tattoo parlor, working on television projects, and still maintains WWS Magazine.

Asiance sat down once again with Big Will to talk about the new and exciting things happening this year for him.

ASIANCE: So, you have a new album coming out pretty soon. Can you talk about a bit about the album and what listeners can expect?

Big Will: The new album will be released sometime this year after my two new singles are released. I am still with the same label and have been working really hard on my craft of music and making sure every song is recorded to perfection. I am releasing two singles at one time early February. The project will be simply a compilation of good music by yours truly! Listeners and fans can expect a wide range of beats, special guest appearances and more. You will be able to get this on Itunes and the entire works!

ASIANCE: How is WWS doing these days? Any exciting changes with the magazine lately?

Big Will: Yes, of course, WWS is the ultimate bread winner in my life haha! WWS expands daily from magazines to movies and merchandise. Since the last time we’ve talked there has been over 100 people who got WWS tattooed on their hands; now that is crazy in my book! We started out featuring stories and articles on just music, now it is a full sports and pop culture publication. It is doing very well and nothing in 2009 will change besides further growth and development of the entity.

ASIANCE: In addition to WWS, now you have DTS magazine out, too! And, you’ve opened Dang’s Tattoo shop in San Diego, CA. Talk more about the new publication and the shop, how did the idea come about, etc.

Big Will: DTS magazine and the tattoo shop all started with my friend Doe Boy out in San Diego. He is the original creator of DTS and Dangs Tattoo. He knew I was on my grind with WWS and thought the idea of taking over the tattoo world was a great idea and was very efficient in his career. He is well connected in the tattoo industry and we have been friends for a long time. It was only right to partner up with them and start another movement. If it wasn’t for him, I’d be completely tattooless and that is not a good thing!

ASIANCE: You mentioned some television projects you would be doing? Can you elaborate on that?

Big Will: Yes, asides from small films, I will be making a lot of TV appearances here and there so simply expect to see me anywhere at any time. I know the last time I was working on a small reel for a new TV show, but due to my heavy schedule I am forced to hold off… sad but not intentional. The next movie we are working on is expected to be distributed this year as well.

ASIANCE: What other activities will be involved with over the next few months?

Big Will: Aside from the magazines and music, the WWS merchandise has been released. We officially started the launch with WWS t-shirts, letterman and varsity jackets, hats and WWS belts for the first season. The reason I’ve waited until 2009 was to build the fanbase and name a bit more before making it a lifestyle. It is a good blend of music, tattoo lifestyle, sports and more. WWS is a brand that anyone with ambition and a hunger for a success can relate to.

ASIANCE: Well, enough about business! How are you, in general, these days, Will? Has life become more hectic than usual now you’ve taken on more tasks?

Big Will: Life is a bit more stressful, of course, but everyday I am learning to deal with it. The last time I spoke with Asiance I was only 22, and now I’ve just turned 24 so as you can see time flies past me quite fast! As hard as things are, I have to learn to cope with it day by day. That is how progress is built and you cannot become better overnight. Success takes time and the road is always long. So one must have longevity, patience and the will to become great in order to reach success. But in the end I must say, being stressed over my tasks is way better than being bored!

ASIANCE: Since it’s a new year, what are some of your goals for this year, both personal and career wise?

Big Will: Well personally, I have a lot of responsibilities that I need to fulfill such as getting in tip top shape, eating healthy and things of that nature, but mostly I would like to spend more time with my family and girlfriend when possible! As far as careerwise. I would like to start up a few more businesses to keep my mind busy at all times. Like I said, I hate being bored and would much rather be busier if anything. The clothing industry is a big task for me and that alone takes a lot of time, marketing and studies in order to operate correctly. That I believe will be my biggest thing for 2009! Look out for me! Thanks Asiance and Tanya!
