Danny Boyle’s SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE wins 7 BAFTAs

Danny Boyle’s acclaimed SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE won seven British Academy Film Awards on Sunday, February 8, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Music for A.R. Rahman. The Mumbai-set film also took home statues for Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, and Sound and was the most honored motion picture at the event. Known in the film industry as the British Oscars, the BAFTAs were awarded in London by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

In addition, on Saturday, February 7, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE won the Best Adapted Screenplay award from the Writers Guild of America.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is now the second highest grossing film in company history for Fox Searchlight. Only Juno, another multiple Oscar nominee, has grossed more with $143.5 million.
