What is semi-permanent makeup?
Jinju Choi is a licensed esthetician, make-up artist and semi-permanent make-up artist in New York. She has been working in the beauty field for over 10 years having worked as an esthetician at prestigious venues such as Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas and Oasis Day Spa. Jinju was recently featured in WAG Magazine June, 2009 as a highly recommended esthetician in Westchester County.
Jinju Choi was trained by a highly renowned semi-permanent artist in South Korea. Jinju approaches her work from a very artistic perspective. She considers herself a “C-curl researcher”, which means she makes a great effort to create the perfect curl which represents warmth and nature. It is part of her Asian culture. This in turn establishes genuine beauty.
Although it depends on the individual, Asian women tend to have procedures such as eyebrows and eyeliner which enhances the area of the face.
Jinju has worked extensively on Asian Women faces as she shares the same cultural background and understands the Asian face. Jinju is also giving 15% off to Asiance readers, so check out her website at www.jinjubeauty.com.
What is semi-permanent makeup?
- Also known as micro-pigmentation, semi-permanent makeup is an exciting new procedure where
- Carefully applied permanents of natural iron oxide are placed onto the dermal layer of the skin.
- It’s hypo-allergenic and there are no fragrances, emollients or other ingredients added.
- Your preferred color is implanted into a lower layer of the skin, where it remains up to one year.
- The pigments are non-reactive and limitless in the choice of colors.
- The procedure is perfectly safe, endorsed by doctors and enthusiastically embraced by many respected beauty writers.
Benefits of semi-permanent makeup
- A beautifully-designed eyebrow shape can give the effect of a face lift, creating a younger expression.
- People allergic or sensitive to conventional make-up, or who have contact lenses, have access to hypo- allergenic organic pigments.
- Makes application of conventional, make-up easier.
- Time saving
- Very attractive for both women and men because it looks very natural.
- Easier to fix in case a client is not satisfied
- Lasts one to seven years
What is the procedure?
Before the procedure, the muscle and bone structure of the face are carefully studied. No face is perfectly symmetrical but the goal of the artist is to create as much symmetry as possible. A numbing cream is applied to reduce pain. The first treatment is done more lightly to exercise some caution. Immediately after the treatment the color will appear to be darker than expected, but after a few days it will exfoliate and lighten, thus creating a more natural appearance.
At a later time, the client will return for touch-ups during which more pigment is added. The goal is to create as natural an appearance as possible. This procedure is most commonly used for eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips, but it can also be used for medical or esthetical makeup such as treating scars, burns, alopecia, areola problems, etc.
Common procedures
Eyebrows
Eyebrows are the frame for your eyes and face; when designed properly they can lift the eyes for a more youthful appearance.
The procedure for eyebrows fills and defines the shape of your eyebrows giving them a softer look than pencil shaping.
This procedure is perfect if your eyebrows are sparse from tweezing or shaving, or are blonde or light in color.
Eyeliner
A fine, soft and natural line can be created to add depth and definition to your eyes.
A thicker, dramatic line can be created for a trendier look.
Can be created on the upper and lower eyelid, making the lashes look fuller and eyes looking beautiful.
Lip liner / full-lip color
Lip liner corrects asymmetry and adds definition and fullness giving a natural and youthful appearance.
Medical / esthetical / paramedical makeup
Cleft lip, face lifting line, corrective, camouflage, vitiligo, alopecia, areola (breast), scars & burns (relaxing the scar), stretch marks, beauty spots, cheeks, and more.
Skin needling
Also known as MCA (multi collagen actuation). This is for people who suffer from tight, painful or strong scar tissue.
A technique called dry needling is given whereby a probe breaks the surface of the skin (similar to tattooing without ink) helping to soften and relax the scar.
This process can actually stimulate collagen production making it a great treatment for wrinkles.
