Ivana Hong trains with Nastia Liukin’s dad

We told you in October 2008 that Ivana had left Al Fong’s gym. Ivana had been competing on a fractured ankle for months even though she complained to Fong. Al Fong has trained and was the USA gymnast coach at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and has a reputation of pushing his students too hard. Two gymnasts even died under his watch.

As Ivana and her family started to look for a new coach, rumors started swirling that she would train with Olympic Gold medalist Nastia Liukin’s dad.

In the latest edition of Inside Gymnastics Hong confirms her coaching switch and talks candidly about her struggles this past year and her plan for the future while Liukin shares his perspective on his newest pupil.
