AsiansinNY.com celebrated Chinese Valentine’s Day with an event featuring an international lineup of performers on Saturday, August 14th, at Bennett Media Studio in New York City.

MC for the night’s festivities was stand-up comedian Victor Chu, a Daily News photojournalist who had been doing comedy all over the city since 2005. On the bill to entertain guests at this Asian version of Cupid’s big day was folkloric and gypsy dance group Kulakova Dance Troupe, featuring Russian-style gypsy choreography by the group’s creator, Julia Kulakova; the Exotic Experiment Band, which takes rock, funk, and electronic musical styles and adds exotic elements; and dancer and choreographer Rie Okamoto, who had performed on “Showtime at the Apollo.” There was comedy from stand-up veterans Esther Ku, a Season Six finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and Chris Martin whose comedy style is in the same vein as Todd Berry, Marc Maron, & Doug Stanhope. Spinning music for the night was be recording artist DJ J4 who has released 4 rap albums with The Rock music production company in Taiwan.
