The Asian American Association of the University of Missouri is hosting a “Glee” season two premiere party as its first social event of the year.

This season, Charice Pempengco, the 18-year-old Filippino vocal powerhouse Oprah Winfrey called the most talented girl in the world, was added to the cast to play foreign exchange student, Sunshine Corazon, something AAA said they are excited about.

“Not only is it incredible that an Asian American singer was chosen as one of the cast members for this phenomenon, but it is such an honor to have an Asian American represented in the fine arts division of the media,” said Julie Yang, the AAA member who organized the event. “Often times, we as an organization try to break the stereotypical mold that individuals place on Asian Americans, and to have that done on such a large scale is definitely a huge step towards showcasing Asian Americans in the entertainment industry.”

The event is being held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Hatch Hall lounge and food will be served.
