FREE Roxana Saberi Iran-American journalist convicted of espionage

Roxana Saberi, an American of Iranian and Japanese descent, was sentence to 8 years in prison after being convicted of espionage. She is being held in Evin prison in Tehran, known for its torture of prisoners. What is deeply upsetting is that 2 prisoners have died in the prison over the last 6 years. Omidreza Mirsayafi charged with insulting the fouding leaders of the Islamic Republic & denigrating Islam, died of mysterious circumstances and Zahra Kazemi was detained for taking photographs outside Tehran’s Evin Prison and died of trauma to the head.

The Asian-American Journalists Association has established a Free Roxana website that is being staffed by her friends and former colleagues at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

The US needs to send a message asap. This is not acceptable! Journalists are not criminals! Sign the petition!
