Now that he got caught!

Since Jon Gosselin of the hit show ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ was photographed in a car with another woman, infidelity rumors began to surface.

Now the woman caught on camera has stepped forward to assure the public that she and Gosselin are not romantically involved.

"We’re just friends," Deanna Hummel, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It’s absurd that anyone would think otherwise."

Hummel insists that a platonic friendship with Gosselin has developed since they were introduced by a mutual friend a few months ago. Though they have visited each other’s homes and enjoyed nights out on the town, it’s always in the company of other friends – and completely innocent.

"We just talk and socialize, the normal things you do when you see friends," says Hummel. Oh REALLY? "We all have guy and girl friends. Because of who he is, it gets portrayed the wrong way, and it’s unfair to him and his family."
She explains the published photos, which show Hummel in the driver’s seat of Gosselin’s car, saying, "He just got this new car and I wanted to drive it. I’m into cars."

"He’s a very nice guy, don’t get me wrong. But he’s married with eight children," Hummel adds. She says that Gosselin "has a great family life. I would never ever think to pursue anything." But did he?

Gosselin’s reaction to the scandal was slightly less decisive. After last week’s reports he had been spotted out late at night with another woman, he released a statement saying he’d shown "poor judgment."
At least he wasn’t caught with is pants down.
