Slumdog going to Broadway?

The adaptation is going to be fast-tracked for development for the stage, and the hope is to have the production ready for 2012.

Slumdog was full of catchy songs and high-energy dance scenes so it makes perfect sense for it to be transferred to the stage. Only it doesn’t, does it – because most of it was utterly miserable and the only catchy song/high-energy dance combo came at the very end of the film.

Building a whole show around one scene in a film (which wasn’t really in the film, it was the credits) could perhaps be considered slightly questionable but hey, let’s see what happens. Hopefully casting won’t end in children being for sale, this time…

I’m all Slumdogged out. I know we had Bombay Dreams on Broadway, which is now closed. Will Slumdog still be interesting or relevant by 2012? Might be something else more interesting.
