Masha Ma Breaks the Ice

Pale blues, icy silvers and cool whites dominated Masha Ma’s debut collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

It was a strong debut for the Chinese designer. The Icebreaker collection showed a range of well-cut garments including sculpted pieces juxtaposed with light airy jackets that play on proportions. The use of smokey prints in the lighter pieces gave the collection a cohesion that bound it together. While the ensemble as a whole was strong, it was the range of separates that give her collection an easy wearability.

The city chic collection drew its inspiration from the industrial landscape of the meatpacking district in New York. Hints of futuristic elements were subtly incorporated and while many of the looks were complex in its construction, it had an effortless appeal. The strongest part about the collection was the possibility of all the different outfits one can build with each individual piece.

Chinese model Danni Li walked the show and sitting in the front row was influential blogger, Shini Park of Park and Cube fame.
